Exemestane lowers estrogen levels in postmenopausal women, which may slow the growth of certain types of breast tumors that need estrogen to grow in the body.

Exemestane is part of a general group of drugs called aromatase inhibitors. Normally in the body, some of the androgens (male hormones) that are made by the adrenal glands are converted to estrogen by an enzyme in fat tissue called aromatase. This drug blocks aromatase so that estrogen isn’t formed that way. This lowers estrogen levels in women who do not have functioning ovaries. This drug doesn’t affect estrogen production from the ovaries, so has little effect on estrogen levels in women whose ovaries are working. If estrogen levels are lowered, breast cancers that require estrogen to grow may stop growing or even shrink.
1. Usual Adult Dose for Breast Cancer:
For early and advanced breast cancer:
Recommended dose: 25 mg orally once daily after a meal.
2. In postmenopausal women with early breast cancer who have been treated with two to three years of tamoxifen, treatment with exemestane should continue in the absence of recurrence or contralateral breast cancer until completion of five years of adjuvant endocrine therapy.
3. For patients with advanced breast cancer, treatment with exemestane should continue until tumor progression is evident.
4. What other drugs will affect exemestane?
Other drugs may interact with exemestane, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell each of your health care providers about all medicines you use now and any medicine you start or stop using.

Tamoxifen Citrate Tablets (TCT) is a competitive estrogen antagonist and a nonsteroidal anti-estrogen drug. It is commonly used clinically to treat all forms of breast cancer, and it is especially suitable for postmenopausal female breast cancer patients who are estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor positive and have relatively low levels of prostrate specific antigens. Tamoxifen citrate has anti-tumor and anti-drug resistance effects, and it can be used for heart protection and treating advanced recurrent breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
Dosage ranges from 10mg - 60mg daily.It is important to start a PCT once you finished a steroid cycle to avoid a dramatic loss of the mass gained. The question on how soon to initiate a PCT depends on the kind of steroids you used. If your cycle is comprised of orals, which have relatively the shortest effect on the body, it is advised to start immediately. Some say PCT can begin as early as the last day of the steroid cycle. If short-acting esters or water-based injectables, PCT is recommended 4-7 days after the last injection. In the case of long-acting esters, it should be around 10-14 days after the last injection.
Tamoxifen citrate tablets are taken orally and absorbed slowly, taking about 3-6 hours to reach peak blood concentration. After absorption, tamoxifen citrate tablets’ liver metabolite is N- desmethyl tamoxifen, which has similar activity to tamoxifen citrate. The drug’s clearing half-life is 5-7 days and its metabolite N-desmethyl tamoxifen’s half-life is 7-14 days. Animal trials show that tamoxifen citrate and N-desmethyl tamoxifen are widely circulated in the intestines and liver. For a single 20mg dose of tamoxifen citrate, its peak blood values are 40ng/ml (range: 67-183ng/ml) and 336ng/ml (range: 148-654ng/ml). Tamoxifan citrate reaches a stable blood concentration after consistent use for 3-4 weeks, while N-desmethyl tamoxifen requires 3-8 weeks. Tamoxifen citrate and its metabolites are mainly excreted in feces, and a small amount of metabolites is excreted in urine.
